Ripper Street is to return for a third series, it was announced today (February 26).
The BBC One period thriller was axed last year, with the broadcaster citing declining viewership as the reason for its cancellation.
However, Amazon Prime Instant Video - formerly LoveFilm - has now struck a deal to revive the drama, which stars Matthew Macfadyen, Jerome Flynn and Adam Rothenberg.
The new series will debut on Amazon Prime Instant Video before airing later on BBC One.
Reports that the BBC was considering pairing with the company to finance a third series of Ripper Street first emerged in December.
